Dental Veneers

Close-up of a male patient's teeth being matched to a dental veneer shade guide during a consultation.Veneer placement is a minimally invasive procedure. It employs the use of thin slivers of porcelain that are secured to the front side of the teeth. Veneers can make an immediate impact, improving the luster and appearance of a patient's smile. Veneers can be shaped, colored, and sized to match the patient's existing teeth. Veneer treatments can be used for just a single tooth in need of treatment or a series of them. They are held in place by using an adhesive and can be placed quite easily.

If you are looking to make an improvement to your smile for a more uniformed look, please contact us today so we can schedule an appointment and give you more details.

Tooth Preparation

The tooth preparation process involves removing a thin layer of enamel from the tooth to make room for the veneer. If this outer layer was not removed, the teeth would feel overly thick and could potentially change the natural biting motion. With the layer removed and the veneer placed, the width of the tooth is kept the same as it was before the veneer was put on the tooth.

A local anesthetic is typically used to help the patient stay comfortable during the procedure. Once the tooth is prepared, we make molds to demonstrate how the veneers will fit on the teeth.

Recovery Period Following Veneer Placement

Installed over two appointments, veneers are placed quickly and easily. The first appointment is all about prepping the teeth. We remove the outer layer of enamel and then work to match the size and color of the patient's teeth and show the patient how they will look once placed.

Once the veneers are in place, there is very little change that can be exacted on them. That is why it is important for patients to agree with their placement prior to the procedure. Patients should be careful about what they eat in the weeks after placement to ensure the veneers remain intact. There is no pain associated with this procedure and patients can return to normal activities immediately after.
